The Vallarta Food Bank, located in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, was founded in 2020 following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Puerto Vallarta families struggling to deal with the economic impact of COVID-19 now have a vital lifeline, thanks to two kindhearted restaurant owners.
The Vallarta Food Bank was set up at the beginning of the pandemic to help the families in need in Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding areas.
Our board of directors include Francie, Francie Victoria and Jimmy. We’re small business owners and residents in Puerto Vallarta who want to give a helping hand to our community. Each of us has experience with volunteer efforts: from delivering food and supplies after hurricanes, searching for missing children, working in soup kitchens, to building schools in small villages in Vietnam.
Currently, our organization serves hot meals 5 days a week from our soup kitchen while continuing to provide despensas (food bags) to the families in need. In addition, we support the families from Pasitos de Luz, Foundation Down A.C., and Red de Asociaciones Altruistas. We also make bi-weekly deliveries to more than 30 families who are physically unable to leave their homes.
During the last raining season we were able to provide food, cleaning supplies and basic clothing to the people who were affected by the storm and flooding. We are committed to continue the disaster relief effort as needed.
We also have educational and trade courses to provide better job opportunities for the local community.
Since we started our mission, we’ve been asked the same question, “how can I help?” If you’re able, we’d love it if you could make a donation. The direct impact of your contributions is simple; the more funds we receive, the more food we can provide to the community.
